Thoracoscopy, also called Pleuroscopy, it is a medical procedure in which a flexible viewing tube called thoracoscope or the pleuroscope is inserted into the patients chest. When the thoracoscope is inserted via the chest, 1 to 2 small cuts are made on the side of the chest between the ribs and through the chest wall. The tool is inserted through one of the cuts into the chest hollowed-out area. In case of the procedure is used to remove small lung tumours, the other cuts are used to put surgical tools into the chest. General drugs that cause numbness or unconsciousness or conscious drug-induced calmness or sleep is given to the patient in order to avoid discomfort to the patient.
EBUS lung exam endobronchial ultrasound is used to identify a disease or its cause different lung problems such as infection, cancer, or swelling. EBUS lung exam is performed by a pulmonologist using a flexible tube that passes through your mouth and enters the trachea and lungs.
EBUS allows doctors to perform a technique called transbronchial needle aspiration (TBNA) to get fluid or tissue samples from lymph nodes or lungs without surgery. The samples can be used to diagnose and determine the stage of pulmonary cancer, diagnose infections, and detect inflammatory diseases affecting the lungs including sarcoidosis and cancers like lymphoma.
Pulmonary balloon dilatation is a cardiac catheterization procedure that treats pulmonary stenosis by stretching open a narrowed valve in the heart.A catheter with a deflated balloon at the tip is inserted into a blood vessel in the groin and guided to the heart. A bronchoscope is used to examine the area. A guidewire is placed into the narrowed area. The balloon is passed over the guidewire to the narrowed valve. The balloon is inflated to stretch the valve leaflets and relieve narrowing. The balloon is deflated and the catheters are removed. The incision in the groin is closed and a dressing is applied.
Balloon dilatation can be performed at any age, including in neonates and infants. It can sometimes be a life-saving emergency procedure.
Lung surgery can be called a thoracotomy, video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS), or robotic surgery. A thoracotomy is a type of open surgery that involves making a cut between the ribs to access the lungs.
A surgeon makes a cut between the ribs to access the lungs. The surgeon may also remove a rib or separate the ribs. The lung on the side of the cut is deflated to make it easier to operate on.
A lobe of the lung is removed if there is a problem in only part of the lung. The remaining healthy lung tissue can function normally.

An tube from the mouth to the lungs stent procedure is a procedure to insert a hollow, tube-shaped device into a patient's tube from the mouth to the lungs to help them breathe. The patient is put under general drugs that cause numbness or unconsciousness and a breathing tube is inserted. A flexible tube called a bronchoscope is inserted through the patient's nose or mouth and down the throat. A guidewire is threaded through the tube (from the mouth to the lungs) to position the stent, which is then inserted into the bronchoscope and expanded to open the tube from the mouth to the lungs.
The procedure is usually performed as an outpatient or day case procedure. Patients typically stay overnight in the hospital and are discharged after a consultation with the oncology and thoracic teams.
